Dog friendly pubs and restaurants.
Cornwall is doggie heaven, so it’s only right that the poor old humans have a bit of fun too, right? When you have worked up an appetite stomping on the coast path or are in dire need of refreshment after a sprint along the beach, check out the list below for some of our favourite spots to enjoy a well-earned break at before the next walkies commence.
Padstow
Prawn on the lawn https://prawnonthelawn.com/?loc=padstow
If you see a dog-friendly table free, grab it! Due to its size, this petite eatery only has two tables that take dogs, so if you fancy spoiling the furry one with a seafood extravaganza, then this is place for you. Maybe keep the frozen margaritas for the humans in the party though….
Rojano’s https://www.paul-ainsworth.co.uk/cafferojano/about/
An old face on the Padstow food scene, now revamped by Paul Ainsworth, this pizza and pasta place is a firm fave. Dogs are welcome in the conservatory to the front, so pull up a chair and get ready for some serious people watching!
Rick Steins café- courtyard only, St Petrocs Bistro- Lounge only https://rickstein.com/restaurants/
Both Ricks Café and Bistro welcome dogs, albeit not in the main restaurant areas. Not sure what Chalky would have thought of that…..
The Old Custom House https://oldcustomhousepadstow.co.uk
A large pub with hearty grub and a huge range of beers, you can even order your four-legged friend a pint of Proper Dog, the breweries spin on their best-selling Cornish ale, Proper Job!
The Golden Lion https://goldenlionpadstow.com
A proper pub with great food, head here for one of the best Sunday Roasts in the county. Or the country. Seriously, book ahead.
Craftworks Secret Garden https://www.craftworkskitchen.com
A little out of town but walkable on the footpath, this al fresco burger joint is only open in the warmer months but is definitely worth the wait.
Further afield……
The Mariners, Rock https://www.paul-ainsworth.co.uk/the-mariners/about/
Hop on the ferry from Padstow and venture to the Other Side of the estuary to find The Mariners, Paul Ainsworth’s gastro pub. Dogs are welcome on the ground floor, so stretch your legs along Daymar Bay then settle in with a drink or two. Just don’t miss the ferry back!
The Cornish Arms, St Merryn https://rickstein.com/restaurants/
Rick Stein’s pub offers good pub grub, local beers and has a large outdoor seating area where you can order pizza and BBQ in the summer months.
The Doghouse, St Merryn https://www.thedoghousewateringhole.co.uk
Well, they kinda had to welcome dogs with a name like that!! This rustic bar and pizza joint has a large outdoor seating area and is popular with locals and holidaymakers alike.
YHA Treyarnon Bay https://www.yha.org.uk/hostel/yha-treyarnon-bay
If you get a thirst on when walking the coast path, stop off for a refresh at the YHA. Open all year round, and with one of the best sea views in the area, this is a perfect place for a pit stop.
The Merrymoor, Mawgan Porth https://www.merrymoorinn.com/pub-food-cornwall-mawgan-porth-restaurant/
Another great beach-side boozer, The Merrymoor also serves huge portions of pub grub, perfect for fuelling up as you tackle the coast path (or even if you are just out for a short stroll!)
Catch, Mawgan Porth https://www.catchmawganporthbeach.co.uk/dog-friendly/
More seafood with a sea view, this is a beachside bistro with a very relaxed vibe. Super dog-friendly, and conveniently placed opposite Mawgan Porth beach, this is a great spot for a few vinos after a loooong walk.
